How Ral makes lemonade from lemons
RALPH COLONY: My company currently consults with clients to suggest new technologies for their organizations, whether they are management departments of corporations or business owners.
I conduct research and take pictures of their procedures to achieve this.
I begin by mapping out how their people and processes may be best aligned to assist them service their clients effectively and efficiently after I have gained an understanding of their existing state of operation.
And my company, Limonade, creates and constructs WordPress websites. For our clients, we produce material and offer advice on how to make their tools effective. Additionally, we act as a strategic partner for bigger organizations that might require our resources.
To formulate a special recipe for each client's circumstance, we consider what we refer to as our "ingredients from past experiences."
Our varied backgrounds enable us to examine a process from various angles and pinpoint its weak points. For example, a lot of companies believe that a website or online application will solve all of their issues.
We take a step back, assess the current business climate, and offer suggestions that are compatible with what is already in place. We focus on strengthening the business and its existing processes rather than creating new technologies or recreating the wheel.
Ral Colón: Changing from the "bad news person" to the "solutions guy" When I decided to work for myself as an IT security consultant, my company was born.
Initially, it was challenging to find employment in IT security. Most businesses that could have hired me as a Senior Security Consultant desired audits and assessments to be approved by a reputable firm.
Most places didn't want an IT Auditor and IT Security Consultant. I was perceived by the populace as the guy who would assess their mistakes.
As an IT security consultant, if I discovered a problem, it might affect how people who didn't do their tasks would be paid. Because of this, I was even perceived as a threat to some people's jobs.
I wanted to create a job board while I was between contracts, so I dusted up my website-building expertise. In 2008, when everyone was feeling the effects of the recession, Puerto Rico experienced widespread layoffs in all sectors of the economy, including the government.
Despite having no marketing budget, the job board attracted a lot of visitors.
I initially considered hiring a third party to establish the employment board for me when I first decided to do so. However, I came across a lot of people who were providing subpar web design and development services.
So I assembled a group of people that could assist with design and development using my project management abilities.
Over time, we developed a few websites and began offering web development and online business strategy consulting services.
It was a distinct kind of experience in that I would enter a company knowing that I was there to strengthen their internal business procedures.
When people perceive me as someone who is there to assist rather than to endanger their jobs, it pleases me.
Taking a backward step to advance
RALPH COLONY: We put a lot of effort into ensuring that the processes used by our clients are current and functional.
But ensuring that we have our own procedures in place is the largest problem we have. Every firm experiences this – occasionally, we become a little slack with the administrative tasks.
We recently spent a few weeks reviewing and prioritizing all of our internal processes.
We aimed to provide the greatest possible experience for our customers when using our services. Priority is given to anything that enhances the customer experience.
Business expansion and ongoing opportunity hunting are our second priorities.
We chose two products, one for our sales process that is user-friendly and one for project management that is designed for small teams.
Both tools assist us in maintaining awareness of what we deem significant.
maintaining the flow of content for a range of clientele
RALPH COLONY: We take pleasure in assisting our customers with jobs that they might not otherwise finish.
For instance, time restrictions make it challenging for many small businesses to produce, update, and publish a blog and email newsletter.
We intervene and support customers through these actions.
On occasion, we produce, they edit, and then we release.
Sometimes we alter what they produce before publishing it.
Every time, there is a significant knowledge transfer that takes place, and clients truly value the opportunity to get involved and learn how their systems operate.
Our ability to consistently update our clients' blogs, newsletters, websites, and social media channels has earned us their loyalty.
Products from The Rainmaker Digital Ral employs
RALPH COLONY: The Genesis Framework helps my business run smoothly.
In 2011, I switched from Drupal to WordPress.
Genesis made things simple, but it also gave me insight into WordPress development, and as a result, we now use the Genesis Framework to make our own themes.
We have previously used Scribe to assist with content SEO. Premise, one of the items I purchased, helped me and my clients save a ton of time. The Rainmaker Platform currently contains all of these product features.
Ral's ideas for growth
RALPH COLONY: My objective is to continue growing my company outside of the United States and Puerto Rico.
I want to shift my primary focus from creating websites to teaching others how they operate.
